1. We will need a minimum of 60' of parking for the equipment (street or driveway) to install your landscape edging. A decision-maker will need to be present to approve the landscape design when the crew arrives to finalize your concrete curbing project details before work starts. Please mark sprinklers and other potential underground hazards prior to arrival. Optimum Curbing will not be responsible for damage caused to unmarked hazards. If you have an existing lawn, we will use the bed edger to create a path for the curbing. Excess material will be cleaned from the path and removed from the site, unless the property owner wants it left in a pre-determined spot.
2. Concrete will be mixed with the custom-built, self-contained, trailer and transported with our motorized wheelbarrow to the curbing machine that extrudes your curbing to the placement area. This wheelbarrow has large turf tires which results in low damage to the work area and lawns. If you have chosen a textured finish (rolled, stamped, or carved stone), we will apply a release color to the curb then apply the textured finish. All colored curbs will then have a sealer applied. We will make best efforts to clean up the excess concrete and work area; however, please understand that there may be some small amounts missed. As always, we will do our best!
Optimum Curbing will video your new curbing for posterity. We always want the owner or other decision-maker available to review the finished product to ensure that it meets expectations. We will give instructions on maintenance and care before leaving the work site.
Will your new curbing crack? Most all concrete will crack to some degree. We deliberately place expansion joints approximately every 2' to minimize cracking as much as possible. If a crack develops in an expansion joint, the joint is doing its job, and is not a sign of poor workmanship. We have no control over ground-heaving, tree roots, etc. If a crack develops greater than 1/4" we will cover that area under our one-year workmanship warranty. This warranty does not cover negligence from the owner. For example, driving over the curbing with a vehicle will not be covered. This curbing is decorative. It does have a tensile strength of approximately 2,000psi, which will generally hold up to heavier items; however, the ground underneath will shift, causing most cracks that are not covered by the warranty.
